Course Overview
CIET College offers nationally accredited Silica Awareness training designed to protect workers from one of Australia’s most serious and fast-growing workplace health hazards. Silica dust — released when cutting, grinding, drilling, or polishing materials like stone, concrete, brick, and sand — can cause irreversible and life-threatening lung diseases, including silicosis, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
This course equips workers with the practical knowledge to identify silica hazards, understand the serious health risks involved, and apply the right controls to stay safe on the job. With engineered stone benchtops and construction materials now under increased regulatory scrutiny across Australia, silica awareness training has never been more critical — or more in demand.
There are no prerequisites for this course, making it accessible to workers at any stage of their career. If you’re unsure whether this training applies to your role or workplace, contact our friendly team before enrolling and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Upon successful completion, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment — giving you, your employer, and your worksite the confidence that you understand silica risks and how to manage them effectively and compliantly.
Please contact CIET prior to enrolling to confirm your details and course availability. You can reach us by email at admin@ciet.edu.au or visit our website at ciet.edu.au.

Silica-related disease is preventable — but only when workers know the risks before they’re exposed. Enrol with CIET College today and make sure you and your team go home healthy.
